Death touches us all at times

Death Touches Us All At Times

My mother is dying.

She had a fall 6 weeks ago and her hip has been repaired. She is in a rehabilitation hospital and moves to a nursing home today.

The doctors and nurses seem to believe that it is only a matter of time and her weak heart will give way. She is 93.

So I have been in a process of grieving. Grief is one of the harder emotions and it comes and goes in waves. Sometimes swamping us with sadness.

I have been fortunate to have my BodyTalkTM therapist help me through some tough times and this has helped me to stay more balanced mentally.
This I believe is the key to living a happy life – the understanding and experience of what mental balance actually is and being able to bring the thoughts back into balance, whilst the deep sadness and grief are still present. It is very important to actually feel the feelings and to understand what they represent for you.

Learning about the mind and mental balance is a lifelong process. Understanding our emotions is too. There is no shortcut.

Observation is a key. Notice what your thoughts are and if they are truly correct. Pay attention to how you feel. What is this emotion telling you? Notice how you cope with overwhelming emotion. Food, alcohol, coffee, sex, activity, … Addictions can develop when we are unable to process and release emotions.

My three top activities to bring about greater mental balance and inner peace and harmony are:

Observation
Journaling and
Meditation
