Make a commitment

Make a commitment to yourself

Meditation Tip

make a commitment

When it’s time for your meditation clear your mind of all the endless things to be done, all the worries and anxieties that seem to bob up from nowhere.

This time is precious and it’s important to train our minds so that when we sit in meditation that becomes our priority.

So make a commitment to yourself that your meditation practice is so important that everything else can and must wait.

This commitment will help you to let go of all the little nagging jobs that are constantly clamouring for your attention.

Harsh Winter Environment

Healing Tip

harsh winter environment

We were visiting China a few years ago. Ian took this photo at the top of Mount Taishan. I remember walking along one of the paths when suddenly my feet slipped out from under me. There was some black ice that I didn’t see.

What would it be like to live all year around in a snow-bound location? You would have to consider warmth and protection whenever you leave the house. I think you would also be very tuned in to safety.

We can’t always control where we live. Some people live in harsh environments.

At times we can all have, what I would call, a harsh internal environment. We can be critical of ourselves and of others. It’s easy to believe that whatever has happened is someone else’s fault.

But we can control, over time, our internal environment. We can listen to our self-talk and question its validity. Does it represent the truth? Or am I being influenced by belief systems and mindsets that no longer serve me?

No-one lives in our mind except us! So it is up to us to train our minds if we wish to experience more peace and harmony. This is where a regular meditation practice can really help. Meditation brings calm to the troubled waters of your mind.

It is also good to challenge our beliefs as they can frequently be incorrect. Writing in a journal can be an excellent tool to bring us greater self-awareness and inner peace.

Energy healing techniques like The BodyTalkTM System can also help. Read more…

Seeing The Way Forward Clearly

Seeing The Way Forward Clearly

Do you feel lost at times?

We all have times in our lives when we are not sure how to move forward.

Perhaps there are too many options, or it’s just that you don’t like them. Sometimes we can feel quite stuck just doing what we have always done – home, work, home, work, etc

It can be particularly difficult if we are stressed as well.

At times like this a meditation practice is a great support.

A mindfulness practice brings us back to the present moment. It trains the mind not to run into the future nor back into the past. This gradually lessens your fears of the future and regrets about the past.

With regular practice our mind starts to purify and we feel a greater sense of inner peace and calm.

Protecting Your Meditation Practice

Meditation Tip

Protecting Your Meditation Practice

When you are new to meditation your practice is like a seedling that needs regular water and sunlight.

Just as we protect ourselves from the sun in summer, so too should we understand that to get real and ongoing benefit from meditation we must practice regularly.

Ian and I have been meditating for many years and to new students of meditation we recommend the following:

  • Have a daily practice
  • Set a timer and stay to the end
  • Meditate in the same place in the house, if possible
  • Don’t judge your meditation. Remember to give yourself a pat on the back for keeping up your practice
  • Try not to have expectations. A good saying is to “Accept, not expect”
  • Meditate with others, if possible
  • Read about the benefits of meditation so you can stay inspired when the going gets tough.

Pathway to Inner Peace and Happiness

Pathway to Inner Peace and Happiness

Meditation Tip

What does meditation do for us?

pathway to inner peace and happiness

Above the temple to Apollo, in ancient Greece was the saying “Know Thyself”

Meditation takes us on an inward journey. The pathway leads to inner peace and happiness because it helps us to know ourselves. Along the way it helps us to release mental and emotional baggage, as well as belief systems and mindsets that no longer serve us. It clears past trauma, as well, from the body-mind.

A regular mindfulness meditation practice purifies the mind. A pure mind is more joyful, less reactive and has access to the inner well of peace that we all have.

Incense sticks

Incense Sticks

Meditation Tip

Incense sticks

Can you see that these are incense sticks all drying in the outside air?

Incense has been used for centuries to clear negative energy and instil a contemplative atmosphere into temples.

We are affected by negative energy. It can trigger our own stock of buried negative reactions from the past.

Meditation helps to clean up this stock of old reactions that lie unseen in our subconscious minds. These will all bring unhappiness and misery, in time.
