Meditating to music

Listening to music can be a very soothing form of meditation. Of course the music needs to be something tranquil with no lyrics. Many people use classical music, particularly that of the Baroque period. Some of the popular composers from that period are: JB Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and Pachelbel.

If you try meditating to music remember to really focus on LISTENING.

This means bringing your mind back to the music each time you notice it wandering.

Ian took this photo near Albury on an art excursion. The water is fairly still but is actually still flowing. The birds are on the lookout for fish. It is easy to see the perfection in nature. Everything is simply in flow, arising and passing. The birds never seem to hurry!

I decided recently that I would take my time with the tasks of the day. I was falling into the trap of believing that I could get more done in the day than was actually possible. And I would find myself working as fast as possible and frequently feeling stressed and unhappy when there were holdups or difficulties.

Do you find the same? Or are you able to go with the flow. To be content with how much you achieve. To not underestimate the time it will actually take to finish a job.

The real benefit of “going with the flow” is that I can stay relaxed as I work. And therefore my brain wave patterns are more likely to be alpha than beta. And I am more able to access my creativity and intuition as I work.
