A mindfulness practice brings us back to the present moment. It trains the mind not to run into the future nor back into the past. This gradually lessens your fears of the future and regrets about the past.

With regular practice our mind starts to purify and we feel a greater sense of inner peace and calm.

I have a friend moving into a house with a well. It is covered over and she’s not sure if there is still water in it. For her sake I hope the well is empty.

Moving water is healthy for us to be around. Still water can be less healthy.

I was listening to a webinar on Feng Shui recently. The presenter told a story of a couple who had a cluttered house and part of the clutter was an old washing machine still full of water.

In Feng Shui still water like that is understood to be a storage of any old emotion that has not been processed and released.

I was a bit shocked! But my understanding of emotional blockages in our bodies is very much connected to water. We can store emotion where there is inflammation. Once the physical reason for the inflammation has cleared, if we have not processed whatever emotion is present, the water (inflammation) stays in the body holding this emotion.

This blocked emotion prevents good communication within the body-mind system. Commonly held emotions include grief, anger, fears, worry and sadness. These emotions require processing. Time is needed to acknowledge and understand the situation and then release the emotions.

  1. Close your eyes and take 10 long slow deep breaths.
  2. Spend a few minutes thinking about your situation and make 3 decisions:
    • What can you do today to help?
    • What can you do within the next 7 days to help?
    • What can you do within the next 30 days to help.

    Write these decisions down.

  3. Do another 10 long slow deep breaths.
